In 2010, Wedgwood Circle looked to renowned literary scholars, the Inklings, for wisdom on creating good, successful and commercially viable cultural artifacts for all audiences. The narrative works of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, among other Inklings members, have proven to be timeless mechanisms for portraying elements of goodness, true and beauty within the art and entertainment space. The Inklings were committed to creating “good” culture for all people and did so in the context of community. At Wedgwood Circle, we are encouraged by this model of pursuing what is good, true and beautiful for the common good while in relationship with others who are committed to doing the same.
Wedgwood Circle hosted its fourth Annual Investor Event November 10th-12th in Santa Monica, CA, highlighting the Inklings influence on culture nearly eighty years later. As C.S. Lewis said to J.R.R. Tolkien, “There is too little of what we really like in stories; I am afraid we shall have to write some ourselves.” As our beloved friend and “Facilitator of Meaning,” Steve Garber, noted, Wedgwood Circle has become a mature and growing community – one that people see and no longer say, “What is this?” and, “Are you sure this is going to work?” but rather, “Yes. I want to be a part of this.” And even better, “When is the next event?!” And we reflect back on our 2010 Annual Event and smile, here is short recap of what you missed.
